Healing the World’s Oldest Rainforest
Join us in healing the world’s oldest rainforest by supporting Ben & Jerry's annual HalfCut fundraiser.
What’s the issue?
Around half of the world’s forests are already gone. Forests are our biggest natural defence against climate change, absorbing carbon and protecting biodiversity. When they disappear, so does our chance at a safe and just future.
In far north Queensland, the Daintree Rainforest is one of the oldest and most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. But it is under threat from deforestation and land clearing.
This isn’t just about trees. It is about protecting Country, culture, and the rights of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people to care for and manage their land.
Half the World's Forest are gone.

What we’re doing
For six years (and counting!) we’ve partnered with HalfCut to support the purchase and restoration of cleared land in the Daintree Rainforest. HalfCut is working alongside the Jabalbina Aboriginal Corporation to create jobs, opportunities and long-term connections for First Nations people on Country, to create a powerful, First Nations led solution to the deforestation crisis.
Together, we are helping to protect and restore the Daintree Rainforest through the ‘Heal Country, Heal Culture’ program.
Over our partnership, Ben & Jerry’s has:
- Raised over $400,000 to support rainforest protection and restoration
- Helped protect multiple Daintree land lots from deforestation
- Supported rewilding projects and tree planting to restore damaged ecosystems
- Backed Indigenous leadership, employment and cultural programs led by the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Bama people
- Been nationally acknowledged for the corporate partnership at the 2024 Australian Workplace Giving Awards
Every dollar raised goes towards real, on ground impact, from land acquisition and rewilding to training, housing, and cultural healing initiatives.
This is climate action led by the people who have cared for this land for tens of thousands of years.
Why this matters
Keeping trees in the ground is one of the most powerful ways to fight climate change.
But this work goes further.
It restores ecosystems.
It creates jobs and opportunities for First Nations communities.
It protects endangered species like the Southern Cassowary.
And it helps return land to its Traditional Owners.
This is about healing Country and culture, together.
